Daily Bible Reading
To prevent the frustration of falling behind, which most of us tend to do when following a Bible reading plan, each month of this plan gives you only twenty-five readings. Today we start a few “free days” . We encourage you to catch up on any readings you may have missed this month.
If you have finished the month’s readings, you can use these final days of the month to study the passages that challenged or intrigued you.
Daily Devotion
Psalm 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
I can only imagine how many times our Bible Quizzers have read and quoted this beautiful passage.
It starts with pointing out what not to do.
- Don’t walk with the ungodly.
- Don’t stand with sinners (those who willing continue in sin).
- Don’t sit with those who scorn/gossip/destroy.
Verse 2 speaks of of what the right mindset and heart does;
- Delight in the law of the Lord (Love, pursue, cherish God’s word.)
- In his law doth he meditate day and night (We are to be saturated with God’s word, think about it, consider it, weigh it in our mind.)
The the first half of the 6th verse;
“The Lord knoweth the way of the righteous…”
- God knows what you are facing.
- God KNOWS you.
- God knows your needs.
My prayer is this, that we would desire and pursue being like the ‘Blessed’ man in Psalm 1.
