Daily Bible Reading
To prevent the frustration of falling behind, which most of us tend to do when following a Bible reading plan, each month of this plan gives you only twenty-five readings. Today we start a few “free days” . We encourage you to catch up on any readings you may have missed this month.
If you have finished the month’s readings, you can use these final days of the month to study the passages that challenged or intrigued you.
Daily Devotion
The depth of the 119th Psalm is truly incredible. As you engage with its patterns, the flow of the song, and the recurring words, a glimpse of the power in the written word unfolds. Three key words stand out: 1. Precepts (21 times), 2. Statutes (7 times), and 3. Understanding (8 times).
Throughout Psalm 119, the first pattern emerges: “keeping His precepts.” It becomes our responsibility to guard, protect, and cherish God’s precepts.
The second pattern involves learning His statutes. In 7 verses, the plea is, “teach me thy statutes.” Here, our responsibility is to be teachable, overcoming the barrier of pride. Humility, not pride, is the key.
The third and final pattern in Psalm 119 is the emphasis on understanding. Holding dear His precepts and learning His statutes lead to understanding. Knowledge and wisdom find completion in understanding. As stated in verse 144, “…give me understanding and I shall live.”
