Psalm 119:161-168
161 Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.
162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
164 Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.
165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
166 Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.
167 My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.
168 I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee.

Psalm 119:161-168 (NLT)
161 Powerful people harass me without cause,
but my heart trembles only at your word.
162 I rejoice in your word
like one who discovers a great treasure.
163 I hate and abhor all falsehood,
but I love your instructions.
164 I will praise you seven times a day
because all your regulations are just.
165 Those who love your instructions have great peace
and do not stumble.
166 I long for your rescue, LORD,
so I have obeyed your commands.
167 I have obeyed your laws,
for I love them very much.
168 Yes, I obey your commandments and laws
because you know everything I do.
There is one verse in particular that stuck out to me, from today’s reading.
Psalm 119:165 – Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble.
God’s word and instructions are true and will never fail you.
1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord remains forever. And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
God’s word brings peace to us, when we spend time reading and studying it. That’s why the Psalmist said that those who love the Lord’s instruction, have great peace. A peace which passes all understanding. His word brings not only peace to us, but life through Him and in Him. We can finish this year and go into the next with peace if we do our best to daily seek out and love His instructions.
