Psalm 103:2-5

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Praise the Lord

by Niezel Carganilla-Gaoaen

Reading the entire chapter of Psalm103, David praises the Lord for all that He has done. Within the chapter, he praises the Lord six times.  David stirs up his heart, his soul, and all that is within him, he praises the Lord for all that He has done.  Some of the Lord’s benefit that David quantifies in the chapter are as follows:

  • He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. (verse 3)
  • He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. (verse 4)
  • He fills my life with good things.  My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! (verse 5)
  • The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. (verse 6)
  • He revealed His character to Moses and His deeds to the people of Israel. (verse 7)
  • And David goes on to praise the Lord’s compassion, His mercy, and His patience. (verse 8)

In verse 10-11, He holds back the punishment we deserve and pours out His unfailing love.  The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him.  For He knows how weak we are; He remembers we are only dust. (verse 13, 14).

We ought to remember the mercies we received from Him.  We must constantly praise the Lord for all that He has done in our lives.  Most people achieve success by a regular habit of focusing their goals. Whether it is something to achieve in business or in life, we all are intending to move in one direction or another to attain success.  The importance is to focus ourselves on Christ-like goals and continue to praise Him. Do not fail to praise the Lord and bless Him for His favor.

Do not ignore His benefits.  If we get in a regular habit of praising and thanking God for all His blessings, we will not forget all the good things that He has accomplished through us.  He wants us to remember all the benefits that Jesus has purchased for you and me with His blood.  Forgiveness of sin is ours.  His divine protection is ours.  Healing is ours.  Favor is ours.  It brings Him unspeakable joy when He sees us enjoying these blessings that He poured upon us and succeeding in life.  Remember the goodness of God and all His benefits and meditate on them daily.  Praise the Lord!
