Day 304 – No assigned reading today

October 31, 2022

No assigned reading for today. Use this “free” day to catch up on your reading plan, read a Psalm or Proverb, or just pray and ask God to direct your reading for today. The important thing is to read  the Word.

Philippians 2:7-11 NLT

7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;
    he took the humble position of a slave
    and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,
8     he humbled himself in obedience to God
    and died a criminal’s death on a cross. 9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
    and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
    to the glory of God the Father.

We find ourselves today, waking up to a very interesting day of the calendar year. The world is obsessed with celebrating all things spooky and macabre on this day. It can at times as a believer, feel like (especially on this particular day) perhaps the world is too far gone. Yet we can’t forget, as the Word tells us, “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord”

Jesus is still in control and the authoritative voice in all things. He has authority over all that goes bump in the night. All the spooky and strange must bow when He enters the room. He has power over sickness and disease. Anxiety and depression can’t stand in His presence. Darkness and evil must flee when He draws near.

No matter how far the world leans into darkness, Jesus will still be able to have His will come to pass. He is Lord and King over all. At His name every knee will bow and tongue confess that He is Lord. His Kingdom will be established and continues to move forward and expand everyday. He is in control. He is moving. His will is going to come to pass.
