Bible Quizzing

This ministry is the real-life application of Deuteronomy 6:7. “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

Beginning in 1982

A Little History

Junior Bible Quizzing began in the United Pentecostal Church International in 1982 for children under the age of 12. This ministry is the real-life application of Deuteronomy 6:7:

“And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

As parents, we have a Biblical mandate to teach “diligently” the Word of God to our children. It is with this in mind that the motto “The sooner the better” was birthed, and in 2008 the Beginner Division of Junior Bible Quizzing officially became a national program for children 8 years old and younger.

Boasting an amazing success rate, Bible Quizzing is without a doubt one of the greatest programs the United Pentecostal Church International has to offer. “The Sooner, the Better” is truly our mission statement. The sooner we can instill the Word of God in their young lives, we have a better opportunity to witness the Word making an eternal impact.

Our Junior Quiz Program

Here at Eastside Apostolic, we have a Junior Bible Quiz program that has been flourishing since 2013. We have been to several national events in Branson, Missouri and have placed in the trophies (9th out of 58 teams in Beginner Division in 2017 and 5th out of 90 teams in the Junior Division in 2019). In addition to team awards, many of our quizzers have earned various individual awards.

The benefits of quizzing are more than trophies and awards though. Children learn the Word of God through memorization. It helps their walk with God by daily keeping them in the Word. It keeps their focus on God and helps keep them faithfully attending church. Also, it improves their study habits - they learn how to study and use time management at a young age. In addition, quizzing helps them develop good attitudes when winning and losing, and they can travel and meet friends from around North America learning the same verses. These relationships can turn into lifelong friendships.

Quizzing is part of our culture here at Eastside Apostolic. We endeavor to raise up our children by diligently teaching them God’s Holy Word.
